What is inside

Become Irreplaceable by Vikas Sachdeva explores the qualities that continue to distinguish human intelligence from machines. Rather than approaching AI with fear, the book encourages readers to identify and strengthen the natural abilities that allow people to learn, adapt, connect ideas, and create value in ways technology alone cannot replicate.

At the heart of the book are seven key ingredients that Vikas believes can help individuals remain relevant in an increasingly technology-driven world. These include curiosity, intuition, consistency, the ability to connect seemingly unrelated ideas, and a deeper understanding of distinctly human strengths.

The book examines how continuous effort and a willingness to learn can contribute to long-term growth. It encourages readers to develop an inquisitive mindset, look beyond obvious patterns, and use experience and intuition to approach problems differently.

Rather than competing directly with machines on speed or processing capability, readers are encouraged to focus on strengthening their own natural intelligence. Drawing on the author’s experience across technology, semiconductors, product management, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, the book presents AI as a reason to develop human potential rather than as a source of constant anxiety.

Become Irreplaceable is written for professionals, students, entrepreneurs, engineers, leaders, and anyone concerned about how AI may affect their career or future opportunities. It is particularly relevant to readers who want to build adaptable skills, strengthen their human capabilities, and approach technological change with greater awareness, curiosity, and confidence.

From “Title Page”

Is There a Perfect Recipe for Growth?

“Perfection is shallow, unreal and fatally uninteresting.”
— Anne Lamott

The crowd at the Eden Gardens was brimming with the contagious excitement of an India-Pakistan match. The Wall of Indian Cricket, Rahul Dravid stood at the striking end as Shoaib Akhtar, The Rawalpindi Express,' marked on his run-up. He ran, gripping the ball, and threw it at a hundred miles per hour speed. That malicious speed is as fast as a tornado. Even a gazelle runs at half this speed.

The ball zipped off the wicket menacingly while Dravid calmly patted it back at Akhtar. However, during the 2003 ICC World Cup at Centurion Park, Centurion, Virender Sehwag majestically hit an uppercut to make a sixer to Akhtar's ball ten rows beyond the third man.
Although both scenarios remain contrasting in the history of Indian Cricket, Dravid and Sehwag handled the same ruthless and malicious pace in their own way. Both went on to play a decisive inning and made India win.

Could Dravid not strike it hard and hit the boundary like Sehwag? Probably he could, but that wasn't Dravid's batting style. His innate talent of remaining stoic under pressure often led outstanding bowlers to make mistakes. Dravid would wait for these mistakes and then hit a marvelous score. Unlike Dravid, Sehwag carried a unique aggressive style and would often force errors out of the bowlers and score big.

Now, could one replaces the other? Both batsmen, impressive in their own batting styles, were pillars of the Indian batting lineup for several years and were equally crucial for the Indian team. They handled similar situations with their unique mix of skills and reached the pinnacle of batting.

Dravid and Sehwag started playing Cricket at a very young age while nourishing their passion for the game. Although their lifestyles were different, their upbringing was different; nevertheless, their dreams were the same. They both wanted to succeed as Indian batsmen. Neither Sehwag could replace Dravid's role in the team, nor could the latter make a compelling opening batsman.

They both had their own way of claiming success and worked hard towards that success, nurturing their strengths throughout their growing years. They stuck to their unique recipe of style and knowledge of the game. However, they drafted their success insights differently and could still climb the mount Everest of the game.
As a fond admirer of the game, I feel the game of Cricket reflects real life. Therefore, I often use learnings from the game of Cricket and apply them to my personal and professional life.
