Personal Journey · Memoir

The story only you can tell — told properly, and kept.

A personal journey book, written from your own recollections in recorded conversations, edited to an international standard, and published in your name. For your family, your industry, or the people who come after you.

Why leaders write one

Three reasons, and usually more than one of them.

For the record

So it is not lost.

Every leader carries a story that exists only in their memory and in the memories of a few people who were there. A book is the one form that keeps it — registered, cataloged and printed for as long as anyone orders a copy.

Typically: founders after an exit, family business heads, leaders reaching the end of a long chapter.

For the industry

So the lessons are usable.

A lifetime of stories and insight is worth more written down than recounted at dinners. A personal journey book turns what you went through into what others can learn from — and puts you on the record as the person who learned it first.

Typically: senior executives, practitioners, people who built something others now run.

For the ones coming after

So they know where it came from.

Children, successors, a next generation of leadership in the firm. Some things are only ever said properly once, and a book is the place to say them.

Typically: parents and grandparents with a career behind them, founders handing over, mentors.

What it is, and what it is not

Not every year. The ones that mattered.

A personal journey book is not an autobiography. It does not start at birth and it does not owe the reader a chronology. It is shaped around the turning points — the decisions, the reversals, the lessons — and it leaves out whatever does not serve the story you are telling.

  • You choose the through-line — one story, told from where you stand now
  • You choose what stays private — before writing starts and at every chapter
  • You choose the reader — family, an industry, a firm, or the world
  • Nonfiction, in your voice — never invented, never ghostwritten, never machine generated

The Stardom Method

You remember. We write.

Our experts interview you, research around you, and bring every resource your book needs — so that it is presented at an international level, matching your seniority. For a personal journey, the interviews are conversations: about what happened, what you decided, and what you know now that you did not then.

01

Editing, formatting, proofreading, a cover you approve.

04

A private launch or a public one — as far as you want it to go.

Thirty hours of your time. The rest is ours.

Discretion

It is your life. You hold the pen, even when we do the writing.

What you control

  • Every chapter, approved by you before it gets published
  • Every name, included with agreement, described without one, or left out
  • Every episode, told fully, told carefully, or not told
  • The recordings and transcripts, which are yours
  • The copyright, registered in your name

What we hold to

  • Confidentiality from the first conversation, for everyone who works on your book
  • A small, named team — you know who is reading your material
  • Nothing published until you have approved the final manuscript, the cover and the listing
  • Publisher recommendations on what to include — and on what may cause you trouble later

At the end

What exists when it is done.

A book, in four editions

Paperback, hardcover, digital and audiobook. The hardcover is the one families keep.

Registered to you

International ISBN, a Library of Congress number and US copyright in your name. A permanent record, in the formal sense.

Available wherever they are

Listed with our worldwide network and printed close to whoever orders it — a grandchild in another country included.

Something to hand over

Copies to give, a story that outlasts the telling, and an author in the family.

Before you begin

Five things worth deciding — and we will help you decide them.

1
Who it is forA book for your family reads differently from a book for your industry. Both are worth writing. Pick one first reader, and the rest follows.
2
What it is forTo keep a record, to pass on what you learned, to open the next chapter of your own career — or some of each. The purpose shapes the book.
3
Where it startsRarely at birth. Usually at the moment things began to turn — the decision, the arrival, the failure, the first company.
4
What stays privateDecide the boundaries early and the writing is freer inside them. You can always move a boundary later; it is harder to un-say something.
5
Whose names appearFamily, partners, colleagues, rivals. With agreement, without names, or not at all — a question for the planning stage, not the proofreading stage.

Questions people ask

Usually the first one is “is my life interesting enough?”

Is my life interesting enough for a book?

That is the wrong test, and almost everyone fails it in their own eyes. The right test is whether there are people who would be better off knowing what you know and how you came to know it. For a leader with a few decades behind them, there always are. The planning stage exists to find the shape — which is rarely the whole life, and never the CV.

I do not want to reveal everything.

You will not have to. You decide what goes in, what stays out, and how far a story goes — before writing starts and again at every chapter. A personal journey book is shaped, not confessed. Plenty of powerful memoirs leave whole decades out.

People I worked with will appear in it. Is that a problem?

It is a question to settle early, and we will raise it with you. Some people are named with their agreement; some are described without names; some episodes are told in a way that protects everyone involved. Our editors have done this many times and will guide you through it.

I am not a writer, and I do not want to write it.

You will not be writing it. Your book is drafted from recorded conversations with our writers, chapter by chapter, in your voice. You talk; we ask, listen, research around what you tell us, and write. You approve each chapter as it is drafted.

Do I have to promote it?

No. Some authors launch a personal journey book widely, because it opens doors and speaking invitations. Others simply want it to exist — for family, for a firm, for the people coming after them. The book is published the same way either way, in your name, available worldwide. How far you take it is your choice.

How long does it take?

Twelve to fourteen weeks from planning to publication is typical. The conversations are the main call on your time — around thirty hours over the whole project, including reviews and approvals. The rest of the work is ours.

Will this be ghostwritten?

No. Ghostwriting hands a topic to a writer who invents a book for someone else to sign. Your book is written from your recorded words, with you, and you see it at every stage. That is why our authors are glad to call it their own.
