What is inside
Entrepreneurship Epidemic by Bhavesh Buddhev is a practical guide for individuals who are considering entrepreneurship but are unsure where to begin. Drawing on his experience as a serial entrepreneur, investor, and mentor, Bhavesh breaks down the startup journey into key areas that first-time founders need to understand.
The book examines why entrepreneurship is becoming increasingly important in a changing and competitive job market. It explores the transition from being a job seeker to becoming a job creator, while also addressing the commitment, adaptability, and sales mindset required to build a business.
A major focus is the importance of choosing the right co-founders and understanding how complementary strengths can influence the future of a venture. Readers are introduced to the broader startup ecosystem and the different stages a business moves through, from the initial idea to growth and expansion.
The book also discusses funding, helping readers understand the importance of identifying suitable sources of capital for different stages of a startup. Alongside this, it highlights the need to future-proof a business by remaining responsive to changing markets, technologies, and customer expectations.
Rather than presenting entrepreneurship as an easy route to independence, Entrepreneurship Epidemic provides a grounded view of what it takes to build and sustain a venture.
The book is written for aspiring entrepreneurs, first-time founders, professionals considering a move into business, students, and early-stage startup teams.
It is particularly relevant to readers seeking a practical introduction to co-founder selection, startup stages, funding, business sustainability, and the realities of building an enterprise from the ground up.
Excerpt
From “Title Page”
Then what is stopping you from taking the plunge? While a young mind can be willing to encash on his entrepreneurial itch, the prying eyes of society always have a say on his career choice. We do grow up in a cocoon of preconceived notions.
A doctor’s child is expected to become a better doctor than his parents. It is almost a shame if an engineer’s son does not venture into the same career chasm. A similar tone is also applied to a business family; the next generation must keep the legacy going. That is how our human society has grown to date—by continuing the legacy. One’s background greatly influences one’s education and career selection. Humans are inherently biased and often universalize things. Parents’ failure frequently instills fear amongst the next generation.
If a father has failed in his pursuit of business, he often encourages his children to secure a government job that will never hinder the cash inflow. We hardly generalize success but often waste our precious time pondering upon chances of failure. We all harbor a tremendous ability to get what we must have; nevertheless, we often get lost between ‘must’ and ‘want’.
“A single conversation across the table with a wise man is better than ten years of mere study of books.”
– Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Before I take you all on the roller-coaster journey of pursuing business as a career, let me brief you all on the crux of doing business.
What Is A Business?
The term business refers to an organization or an enterprise engaged in commercial, industrial, or professional activities. So, if you are sitting on the fence about your career, you can imagine the plethora of opportunities you will get. Businesses range in scale from sole proprietorships to international corporations and can range in size from small to large. However, I shall let you all know that even a business giant like Amazon started with a one-room cubicle.
Business is about turning your passion into profit, which in turn can solve some of the prevailing economic and social issues. As a serial entrepreneur myself, I have never encountered anything called the right or wrong motivation for wanting to start your own business. Whether one is trying to escape the nine-to-five work shifts or just wanting to make more money, every reason seemed valid for me. However, there prevails some particular elements which help in shaping a business career.
