What is inside
HEALTH OR HELL by Dr. Rajasekhar Ramakrishna Mysore examines the changing face of modern medicine and asks whether greater medical sophistication has necessarily translated into better health and happiness for individuals.
Drawing on decades of medical experience, the book looks at how technology, corporate healthcare, marketing, legal concerns, and treatment-driven systems have influenced the way people understand and manage their health. It questions the tendency to focus only on diseases, investigations, medical parameters, and hospital-based care while overlooking the individual’s role in maintaining well-being.
The book explores fundamental questions such as why people fall ill, who should take responsibility for health, how health fits into the pursuit of wealth and career, and whether being disease-free is the same as being truly healthy. It also considers how people can navigate choices around doctors, hospitals, medical systems, and treatments without becoming overwhelmed by conflicting information.
Written in a simple and practical style, the book encourages readers to become more health-conscious and take a more active role in preventing lifestyle-related diseases. Its approach is centred on awareness, personal responsibility, and practical action.
HEALTH OR HELL is written for individuals and families who want to better understand their health and make more informed choices about wellbeing and medical care.
It is particularly relevant to readers seeking a practical, preventive, and self-aware approach to health rather than relying only on treatment after disease appears.

DISEASE
A disease is an impairment in the parameters of the physical and chemical processes of the body. It manifests as an illness by feelings in our minds. When the parameters change, and there is decreased physical and mental energy, it is termed as sickness.
HEALTH
Now, the dictionary definition of health is the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit. Oftentimes, it is seen as a goal as opposed to a lifestyle. Health is an expression of life. Life comprises four components that work in conjunction with each other. The processes are physical processes, chemical reactions, energy generation and distribution, and intelligence.
PHYSICAL PROCESS
The hardware part of life structure is the body, consisting of organs, tissues, cells, enwrapped by skin, including the skin. The disturbances in this hardware can be from injury, deformity, lump/swelling, discoloration, variations in quantity like size, weight, etc.
The body is the most easily identifiable part of the human structure. So, we easily identify with that as ‘me.’ Though it is only a hardware part, we give more importance to it. The attachment to it causes emotional perversions like pride, discrimination, possessiveness, anger, frustration, etc.
A computer is identified with its operating system rather than with hardware Windows 2000 /XP, DOS, LINUX, etc. not with the screen, monitor, keyboard, mouse et al. So should our identity be expressed with our operating system -- the inner energy.
I still remember Akash, that fitness freak with a 6-pack-abdomen, got admitted to a major corporate hospital for Gastroenteritis, which causes loose stools, vomiting, and dehydration. He was shaking. He feared that he’d die, so he called and texted everyone he knew and requested them to pray for him. He apologized to the folks he had bullied.
Eventually, he got better and learned that physical strength is not everything.
My point here is that focusing on brawn alone will not help you. By all means, make sure you exercise and stay healthy but don’t think that it's all you have to do. Physical fitness is only a part of overall good health.
