What is inside
No Money? No Problem!: The Royaloak Story by Vijai Subramaniam explores that question through the author’s own journey from financial hardship to building Royaloak Furniture. Rather than presenting entrepreneurship as a path reserved for those with capital, connections, or a privileged background, the book focuses on the mindset and persistence required to keep moving forward when circumstances are difficult.
Vijai reflects on the challenges, setbacks, and lessons that shaped both his life and the growth of Royaloak. The book examines how determination, patience, optimism, and continuous learning can influence the way entrepreneurs respond to failure and uncertainty.
A central theme is that businesses are not built overnight. Vijai describes growth as a process that requires time, discipline, and the ability to nurture an idea through difficult phases. His experiences highlight the importance of viewing setbacks as opportunities to learn rather than reasons to stop.
The book also considers the role of hunger, ambition, and courage in pursuing goals that may initially appear beyond reach. Through personal experiences, Vijai encourages readers to focus less on what they lack and more on what they can build through persistence and action.
The book is written for aspiring entrepreneurs, first-generation business owners, students, young professionals, and anyone who feels that financial limitations or background may prevent them from pursuing ambitious goals.
It is particularly relevant to readers seeking a grounded entrepreneurial story about resilience, learning from failure, and transforming modest beginnings into long-term business growth.
Excerpt
From “Title Page”
Have you ever felt lost in a never-ending loop, not knowing what to do next? Have you been too scared to rescue yourself from a conflict? Have you felt that there is nothing more you can do to solve an issue or turn an unfavorable situation around? Well, there isn’t a single human who might not have gone through a feeling like that.
I’ll tell you a story-a story of tears, of pain, of resilience, of patience, of never-ending hard work, and of rising from the ashes like a phoenix. They say we only live once, but in reality, we only die once. We live every day. Or should I say that we must live every day irrespective of the uncertainty that looms around the corner to come out of the loop we’re stuck in?
Life is complex and utterly unpredictable, to say the least. It is fickle, and no one can ever fathom the unforeseen future. Miracles or misery, anything can sweep us away from the normalcy of life. We can never know when an otherwise mundane day metamorphoses into something utterly surprising.
All we can do is sit back and watch as our life plays out in front of our eyes like a movie. The only difference is that it is not a Kamal Hassan or Rajinikanth movie; we are the protagonists of our lives, pondering over an unknown and never-read-before script.
Although the unpredictability of life sometimes becomes intimidating, there lies a peculiar beauty in the unforeseen future. A new surprise awaits every day. No matter how much we prepare for what is to come, life will take turns and twists, putting us in the right place at the right time. To see multiple facets of life is both frightening and exciting. It adds spice and joy to this beautiful journey of life.
Now, when the future is uncertain, we can assume it as a blank canvas, and thus, we are bestowed with the chance to create something new every day. We can choose to take umpteen risks and explore the unknown.
American writer Paul Auster said — The world is unpredictable. Things happen suddenly, unexpectedly. We want to feel we are in control of our existence. In some ways, we are, and in others, we’re not. The forces of chance and coincidence rule us.
Uncertainty is an integral element attached to life. Nothing knocks on our door with surety; however, we can choose courage and optimism to live a content life.
