What is inside
Perseverance by Natasha Vaswani explores the relationship between the mind, body, emotions, and the experiences that shape the way we respond to life. Drawing on her work as a counsellor and transformation coach, along with experiences from her own life and those of her clients, Natasha examines how emotional patterns can influence wellbeing, confidence, and personal choices.
The book looks at the power of the subconscious mind and helps readers develop a clearer understanding of basic emotions. It explores how fear develops, what may lie beneath it, and how unaddressed stress can affect both mental and physical wellbeing. Another important theme is pain. Natasha examines pain across mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, encouraging readers to recognise difficult experiences rather than simply avoid them. The book presents adversity as an opportunity for deeper self-awareness and personal development.
Through real-life examples and reflective insights, Perseverance encourages readers to identify patterns that may be holding them back, understand their emotional responses, and discover their own capacity for resilience. At its core, the book is about moving through fear and difficult experiences with greater awareness, while working towards becoming a stronger and more authentic version of oneself.
Perseverance is written for individuals navigating fear, stress, emotional challenges, uncertainty, or periods of personal change.
It is particularly relevant to readers interested in emotional awareness, self-development, resilience, and understanding how the mind, body, and emotions interact during difficult life experiences.
Excerpt
From “Part A”
“Pain is a part of life; suffering is an option.”—This is an oft-repeated saying. Have you ever snapped at those advising you about pain and sacrifice? You definitely would have. With time, we all learn that external factors are not in our control.
In situations like these, we are left with two options: Either endure the pain and suffer or find a solution. Unfortunately, we dedicate most of our time focusing on the problem rather than finding the solution. Have you ever noticed how complaining and whining about problems only seem to invite more of them? We can either succumb to pressure or let go and focus on being grateful for everything we have in our lives. It is helpful to see life as a stage performance where we are the main protagonists. The dramatic scenes portray us as worthy and courageous. However, in reality, we believe ourselves to be the victims who are weak and powerless.
Instead of adopting that mindset, why don’t we flip the script and make ourselves the director? I know it is easier said than done, but I have experienced and witnessed how my life and my clients’ lives have drastically improved after we empowered ourselves to take charge of our lives. Unfortunately, I have functioned in the victim’s mode for many years, and I saw my life only get more complicated.
I felt like a victim for several reasons—not receiving my father’s love, shouldering familial responsibilities at a younger age due to the untimely death of my father, being sexually assaulted, being diagnosed with cancer, undergoing various surgeries, being in toxic relationships with narcissists, and so on. However, things changed once I decided to get my life back on track; I learned to love and care for myself. Today, I reflect on my life with gratitude for each experience I encountered; they shaped and moulded me into the best version of myself. Every fear and trauma has helped me realize my true potential. No matter how many times you fall, you will, in the end, learn to bounce back.
The number of attempts only make you stronger. It is only when you dust yourself and move forward that you will discover the unlimited power within you. Just think about it, if you were always happy, would you even value it? Do you value free things in life? Do you value people who are always at your beck and call? Mostly you do not, and it is human tendency to take things for granted.
