What is inside
PRIDE offers a practical framework for navigating the transition from education into professional life. Sandeep Agarwal begins with a challenge many people face at the start of their careers: enthusiasm and ambition are high, but clarity about where to begin, whom to learn from, and how to make the right professional choices is often missing. The book guides readers through identifying their purpose, defining a personal vision, and developing the behavioural values required to build a meaningful and sustainable career. At the centre of the book is the P.R.I.D.E. framework, built around five areas: Professionalism, Responsibility, Integrity, Development, and Excellence.
These principles explore how individuals can conduct themselves professionally, take ownership of their decisions and responsibilities, remain guided by integrity, continuously develop their mind, body, and personal capabilities, and pursue excellence in the work they undertake. Alongside the framework, the book uses anecdotes, personal experiences, stories, and practical action steps to connect these ideas with everyday professional situations. The emphasis is not simply on career advancement, but on developing the habits, character, and clarity required to create a fulfilling professional and personal life.
This book is for students, graduates, young professionals, first-time employees, emerging managers, and anyone seeking greater direction in their career.
It is particularly relevant to readers who want to establish strong professional values, develop greater self-awareness, take responsibility for their growth, and build a career with purpose, dignity, integrity, and excellence.

From “Part One – Need for Knowing Your Purpose and Defining Your Vision & Values”
There is a purpose for everything we do. Right?
For studying, for working, for driving, for marriage, for business, for creating an organization, or for some projects or tasks you do on a daily basis. All this is part of the activities or actions you do in life.
So if everything you do in your life is for some purpose, isn’t it essential to identify your own life’s purpose?
The purpose of your existence, the things you want to be remembered for?
The dictionary defines purpose as “the reason why something is done or created or for which something exists.” For example, you are conducting a meeting to solve a problem at hand possibly.
One such example of identifying a life purpose is “Making an Impact to a Million Lives” – This purpose though simple it may sound, has a profound meaning that would change how you do things, your behavior and actions. You would start finding ways or defining goals where you start impacting the lives of people for good with your actions. We will go into more details of identifying your life purpose in Chapter 1.
Define your vision – the What?
Once we have identified the life purpose, we have a goalpost set for life. The next question would be, what goals would you take to achieve your purpose? There are long-term goals and short-term goals. Short-term goals are baby steps taken to achieve your long-term goals.
Defining the vision is an important step, as that will articulate clearly what goals and measurable criteria you want to achieve. The vision is set using the SMART acronym that stands for:
• Specific - being very specific in defining your goals
• Measurable - goals that can be easily measured
• Achievable – goals that are not impossible
• Relevant – goals that are relevant to your purpose
• Time-Bound – goals that have specified target timelines to achieve.
