What is inside
Whispers Of Breath by Naina Shetty and Dr. Rohit Shetty brings together spiritual practices and scientific perspectives to explore holistic wellbeing. The book focuses on the connection between body, mind, and spirit, and offers practices intended to help readers become more aware of their inner state and respond to emotions with greater clarity.
Through meditation, self-awareness techniques, and reflective practices, the book encourages readers to observe negative emotions rather than remain overwhelmed by them. These approaches are supported by concepts, theories, evidence, and research drawn from reputable sources, creating a bridge between spiritual understanding and perspectives from Western medicine.
The book also reflects the authors’ combined backgrounds in wellness, yoga, meditation, and medical science. Rather than treating spirituality and science as separate worlds, it presents them as complementary ways of understanding wellbeing.
At its core, Whispers Of Breath is an invitation to slow down, look inward, and develop a more conscious relationship with thoughts, emotions, and personal wellbeing.
The book is written for readers interested in meditation, spirituality, self-awareness, emotional wellbeing, and holistic living.
It may also appeal to healthcare professionals, wellness practitioners, yoga and meditation enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a structured way to explore inner balance through a combination of reflective practice and scientific insight.
Excerpt
From “Title Page”
“Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things, they are transformed.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh
Awareness is a word that is used to signify consciousness. To be aware is to be conscious.
In the daily grind of life, our living has become mechanical. We function on autopilot mode. We have a set routine of habitual patterns that we follow automatically. Such is the automated nature of our duties that even our response to experiences has become mechanical.
Our experience has been so dictated by these external mechanisms that we have adopted these qualities and called them a part of our personalities.
For example, if someone responds in anger to a certain situation in their life, that person will then come to describe themselves as angry.
But are you, though?
If you want to gain Awareness in your lives, you need to learn to disassociate the emotion from yourself. You are not the emotion. Chant this mantra to yourself: “Anger is an emotion moved into me. I’m not an angry person. And I am not the emotion itself.”
The recognition of this separation is vital. When you recognize this fact, you have taken your first and foremost step toward Awareness.
Why is this recognition important? Once you realize the difference between emotions and yourself, you can easily detach yourself from the trappings of these emotions. If you don’t realize this difference, these emotions will become a part of the fabric of your personality, and you will find it harder to untangle yourself.
Now you might be confronted by the question: what defines our personality?
Our personality or character is defined most importantly in the first seven years of our life. The activities and habits you imbibe during this period become like programs you feed into your subconscious mind. This programming develops your character.
Now, what are these programs?
We develop certain programs through our experiences with a situation or a relationship and feed them into our subconscious minds. It could be habitual behavioral patterns, how we perceive emotions like love, joy, sorrow, and hate, and how we respond to multiple behavioral patterns.
So, you have to ask yourself whether you want to evolve into a better being, or are you satisfied with what you are now and simply claim, “This is who I am”?
