What is inside

Why Every Entrepreneur Must Write a Book by Raam Anand explores why authorship can be far more than a personal milestone for an entrepreneur. At the centre of the book is Book as a Strategy (B.A.A.S.), an approach that positions a book as a strategic business asset capable of strengthening how an entrepreneur is seen, remembered, and trusted. Drawing on his experience publishing more than 260 leaders through Stardom Books, Raam explains how entrepreneurs can use a book to communicate their expertise, establish a distinctive point of view, build credibility, and create greater visibility within their industry.

The book examines why published ideas can help turn experience into recognizable authority and give entrepreneurs a platform that extends beyond conventional marketing. Readers are introduced to practical frameworks, real-world examples, stories, and case studies that demonstrate how a book can support business growth, personal branding, thought leadership, and long-term reputation. The book also provides step-by-step guidance on thinking strategically about the purpose of a book and using it effectively after publication. Rather than treating writing a book as an isolated publishing exercise, Raam presents it as part of a broader authority-building and business strategy.

This book is for entrepreneurs, founders, business owners, consultants, experts, and senior leaders who have valuable knowledge but want to communicate it more effectively and build stronger recognition around their expertise.
It is particularly relevant for established entrepreneurs as well as startup founders who want to strengthen credibility, expand their influence, differentiate themselves in crowded markets, and transform their ideas and experience into a lasting body of work.

Excerpt

From “Acknowledgments”

In the high-stakes world of startups, credibility and authority can make or break a venture. Picture yourself at a prestigious startup conference surrounded by potential investors and partners. The keynote speaker, a well-known startup founder, takes the stage. As they begin to speak, the title of their bestselling book is prominently displayed on the screen behind them. The room is captivated, and it’s clear that this founder’s book has established their status as an authority in the industry.

This scene is not an uncommon occurrence; many successful startup founders have used authorship as a strategic tool to elevate their professional status.
Writing a book can significantly enhance your professional credibility and position you as a thought leader within your industry. This chapter delves into how a book can establish your authority, boost your credibility, and set you apart from the competition.

Establishing Authority
One of the most compelling reasons startup founders write a book is to establish their authority in the field. A book serves as a tangible representation of your expertise and insights, offering readers a deep dive into your knowledge and experiences. In an industry where authority can significantly influence success, a book can be a powerful differentiator, solidifying your position as a thought leader. It is a widespread opinion that “a book is the new business card.” However, I am of the dissenting opinion because just about anyone can have a business card. You could go to a print shop and get business cards, but you cannot just author a book at a print shop. What I like to say instead is that “your own book is the new college degree.”

Four decades ago, only about 10 percent of people could actually go to college. A college degree was an indication of credibility and authority. However, college degrees aren’t exclusive anymore; they do not carry the same gravitas they once did. So, what can be considered as a sign of credibility and authority today while also maintaining authenticity and uniqueness?
Getting your book published, of course!
Writing a book shows that you have the courage to put your thoughts out there that you can commit to and follow through with that commitment. It shows that you are the type to get things done, things that are hard and prestigious and involve a great deal of effort and persistence. Most people do not have it within themselves to take that risk: to set themselves up to be scrutinized and to show the world what they stand for.
Publishing a book is one of the best ways of getting attention and gaining trust; it is a multipurpose marketing tool. Your book can help you with almost anything you want: sales, media publicity, word-of-mouth publicity, recognition as an authority, etc.
