Dr Bhujang Shetty

The record

Dr. Bhujang Shetty was a distinguished ophthalmologist and the founder of Narayana Nethralaya, Bengaluru, which he established over four decades ago. He completed his MBBS in 1978 and specialised in ophthalmology at Minto Ophthalmic Hospital, Bangalore Medical College, in 1982.

A respected figure in Indian eye care, he served as the founding President of the Bangalore Ophthalmic Society. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Kannada Rajyotsava Award and the Legend in Ophthalmology Award at the 2018 Times Healthcare Achievers Awards.

Diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 40, Dr. Shetty developed a deep personal interest in nutrition, lifestyle diseases, and preventive health. His book, Diabetes No More, draws on his experiences and research, sharing his journey of managing diabetes through dietary and lifestyle changes. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to healthcare, patient awareness, and well-being.
